Vocal ACcord is an a cappella society consisting of IB Year 5 and 6 students dedicated to producing music solely with their natural instrument: voices. Be it choral music, contemporary pop, R&B tracks, or even Broadway showstoppers, Vocal ACcord will sing our hearts out and bring the roof down! Our events cover the school’s Founder’s Day performance, Chinese New Year celebration, our very own Festival of Arts performance, and annual carolling sessions during the Christmas season. We hope to bring our passion and performance out of school to the the public. Our aim is to create a community where vocalists can enjoy singing together while developing their confidence in their own performance styles. Those that enjoy music arrangement and choral conducting can also develop skills in this area and apply music theory in this a cappella experience.
Our Music Director
Our music director, Mdm Elaine Chan is a renowned Singaporean choral and music director who’s been working in the music scene since 2006. She has composed many National Day Songs such as the widely popular 2005 National Day Song, “Reach Out For the Stars” making her mark in the industry as the first female composer to do so. She is also heavily involved in the musical theatre industry. Her theatre credits include Aladdin (2004), CinderellaH! (2003) and the first 3 installments of Dim Sum Dollies amongst many other corporate projects. The Vocal ACcord is happy to have her as our music conductor to help our members develop their musicality and performance skills.
